#Patchworkquiltalong

In January I decided to join my FIRST quilt along.  This quilt along is sponsored by Fat Quarter Shop and Moda Fabrics, they are donating money to Make A Wish Foundation.  On the 15th of every month they release a pattern and request that we donate  before the download…but it is free.  This Patchwork Quilt Along has been so fun and I am learning to be a little more meticulous in my cutting and sewing.  Click here to go to the website by Jolly Jabber  Patchwork quilt along .

I am using fabrics by Bonnie and Camille. If you buy the kit, their fabrics are in it, but I am using my own choices and I have one of their older lines that I am loving to incorporate.

Block 3….

Block 4….

My first attempt to paper piece

I was on instagram and if anyone is like me, I take a photo of quilt blocks or sewing projects that catch my eye and then keep them in mind for my “projects in between projects”.  This was one of those projects that I just had to try and I have to say, it was challenging in the beginning.  After my forth attempt, I had it figured out.  The pattern comes from aspoonfulofsugardesigns .  Give it a try, I think you will be hooked!  Here is my journey…

This was my first block finished…I was just using this fabric by Bonnie and Camille as a tester.  I have lots of scraps because I own all of their lines of fabric!

The fabric I used to complete was project is by 3 sisters, White Washed Cottage.  I love the soft subtle colors. If you go to etsy, you can still find it.   Make sure if you do paper piecing you use a small stitch length, as you pull away the paper the stitches won’t pop.

The little tea cup and saucer was something I received when I was around 9 years old.  I loved playing make believe and those little cups and saucers were washed a hundred times even though they never had real food touch them.

I love how this turned out, its just so sweet and perfectly stitched.

Sometimes in order to get better at something you have to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.  I felt like this project made me grow.

Love Letters Quilt

Better late then never to post this super cute Love Letters Quilt! When I came across this I knew I had to make it! FullSizeRender

It was perfect for my Valentine’s day get together with my friends! It was so easy and only took me a few days to complete. Partly because I like to work on multiple projects at the same time.  All the hearts are hand stitched with a blanket stitch onto 5 inch block.  It was so fun to do this part!

IMG_0304The  quilting was done on my machine. I traced each heart onto the fabric with a Disappearing Ink pen, and then used my machine and followed the lines. It was probably the most time consuming part of this quilt.

The process was so fun all along the way and I just think it turned out so cute! Love the detail!
