First 2017 Project

I sat down and looked through all my quilting books and printed patterns to find a quilt project that I could get excited  about and here it is…Vintage by @Simplify Camille Roskelly.  It is in her book entitled  Simply Retro.  I also have bought and downloaded a number of her quilt patterns from her shop. img_4405

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this quilt and also love that it is very straight forward, no triangles, no cuts…just straight lines, that makes me happy!

I think that I literally have almost every line of Bonnie and Camille’s fabric line, or at least some pieces from their older lines.  I love so many of the fabrics it is very difficult to pick which ones to use!

Once I decided on the red and tans, I had a crazy thought that I could do one of tans and blues at the same time…WHY NOT!!

Here’s my first block, isn’t it beautiful…the fabric is my very favorite

I have a few blocks left…like a lot for sure, but this is not a stressful quilt and it makes me smile!  I will post more photos as I progress and don’t forget to watch my instagram because I promise they will be posted there @sew_becky

A Block Calling Out To Me

Crosscheck…

I saw this quilt made up in a cute little shop and  just had to put my other projects aside because I couldn’t stop thinking about how adorable this block is… it is called Crosscheck by Fig Tree & Co

Strawberry Fields Revisted and Farmhouse fabric

Imagine how cute this could be using all of the Fig Tree and Co fabrics!!!  This is on the back burner right now, but look forward to getting back to it!

Love Letters Quilt

Better late then never to post this super cute Love Letters Quilt! When I came across this I knew I had to make it! FullSizeRender

It was perfect for my Valentine’s day get together with my friends! It was so easy and only took me a few days to complete. Partly because I like to work on multiple projects at the same time.  All the hearts are hand stitched with a blanket stitch onto 5 inch block.  It was so fun to do this part!

IMG_0304The  quilting was done on my machine. I traced each heart onto the fabric with a Disappearing Ink pen, and then used my machine and followed the lines. It was probably the most time consuming part of this quilt.

The process was so fun all along the way and I just think it turned out so cute! Love the detail!

For Baby Audrey

I fell in love with this fabric by 3 Sisters, Whitewashed Cottage…isn’t it adorable!!! Shabby chic is how I would describe it.  I am in the process of quilting and binding…I will post the completed quilt soon!!!
As soon as Hillary said she was pregnant I had a feeling it was a girl so I took a leap of faith and started sewing!!

A Block a Week

Farmers Girl Vintage quilt…I’ve been making blocks to make a beautiful quilt and this book is going to help me get it done.  I will add these blocks to my Famers Wife quilt blocks…can’t wait to see it come together!!

Its officially done

Its done…my first official quilt…I like it, but I don’t love it.  This was my first shot at machine quilting and its very stressful!  Some spots look great and others not so much.  This is definitely something you get better at, so with that said…on to my next quilt.  Keep your fingers crossed for me, I just want to love it!!

after ….

So the quilting on the back of this quilt looked awful, the tension on the bottom was off so it looked so bad.  Even after I washed the quilt and it was all crinkly I just couldn’t love it…so…I unpicked the entire quilt!  Literally every quilted stitch and started over.  I would never call myself a perfectionist, because I am the first one to compromise and call it good, but this I just could not walk away and leave it as it was!

Look what I found….

Imagine my surprise when I was just looking for scrapes of fabric to practice machine quilting!!  If I search the cobwebs of my mind I believe I started this quilt when we lived in Layton Utah…13 years ago!!!  I guess my next quilt lays before me.  Those are awfully little squares…what was I thinking??
